Alumni Spotlight: Brooklyn Crawford – Turning Passion into Purpose
From transforming her own life to inspiring others to do the same, Brooklyn Crawford has made an incredible journey from retail management to personal training. A proud FIT College Gold Coast graduate (August 2025) with a Certificate III & IV in Fitness, Brooklyn embodies the power of determination, education, and passion for health and wellness.
A Journey Sparked by Personal Transformation
Brooklyn’s decision to pursue a career in fitness was deeply personal.
“My own health and fitness journey is what inspired me to pursue this career. I lost 35kgs naturally without extreme dieting or restrictions, and I want to help others achieve the same.”
That powerful experience not only shaped her outlook on health but also ignited a lifelong passion for helping others discover their strength and confidence.
Learning, Growing, and Gaining Confidence at FIT College
For Brooklyn, choosing to study face-to-face full time was a key factor in her success.
“I’m someone who struggles to study online in my own time, so being in class really helped me retain knowledge better and stay motivated. It gave me a lot of confidence stepping into a new career.”
Immersing herself in practical classes gave her the hands-on experience she needed to feel ready for the real world.
“Each practical was practice for the real thing. That experience gave me the confidence I needed when speaking with real clients and running one-on-one PT sessions.”
A Rewarding Career Change
Before beginning her studies, Brooklyn was working in retail management—a role she excelled in but knew wasn’t her true calling.
“Before studying I was in retail management and decided I needed a change and wanted to do something I am passionate about. This career change was nerve-racking at first but has been so rewarding.”
Her courage to take that leap has paid off, opening doors to a fulfilling career that aligns with her passion and purpose.
Advice for Future FIT College Students
Brooklyn encourages current and future FIT College students to make the most of every opportunity.
“When in class and presenters come from local gyms, present yourself well and ask questions—there’s a high chance they could become your manager! That’s what happened to me.”
She also emphasises the importance of attendance and engagement:
“Attend every class as it goes fast. Ask questions—the teachers are there to guide you, not judge you. And most importantly, have fun!”
Looking Ahead: Specialising in Women’s Health
Brooklyn isn’t stopping here. Her next goal is to further develop her knowledge in women’s specific health and nutrition, continuing to grow as a fitness professional and expand her impact.
Words to Live By
When asked what advice she’d give her younger self, Brooklyn shares wisdom that perfectly reflects her journey:
“Don’t shy away from the things that scare you. Change is a good thing—chase what you’re passionate about. Don’t stay where it’s comfortable; growth comes from stepping outside your comfort zone.”
Brooklyn’s story is a testament to what’s possible when passion meets persistence. From her personal transformation to inspiring others on their fitness journeys, she’s proof that with the right mindset—and the right education—you can create a career you love.
